CODES OF ETHICS

1-1.1    To be familiar with the knowledge base of early childhood care and education and to stay informed through continuing education and training.

*Significant because learning never ends - - there are always new ideas, methods, and practices and we need to stay informed of these so that we may bring this knowledge into our programs.

1-2.5     To respect the dignity and preferences of each family and to make an effort to earn about its structure, culture, language, customs, and beliefs.

*Significant because all of these factors influence who the child is.  Without this knowledge, we do not really know the child.

1-3A.2     To share resources with co-workers collaborating to ensuring that the best possible early childhood care and education program is provided.

*Significant because sharing knowledge and experiences through collaboration is how we all learn and grow together and it is a sign of effective leadership.

  3. So many times co-workers forget about their mentoring role especially to new teachers. I think that collaboration brings about the best ideas. We need to work together to ensure that children are getting the best possible education during their school careers.

  4. You're right. Learning is never ending. There is always room for improvement. As educators, we must learn new knowledge so we can bring it to our students.

  5. Lynn,
I also posted code of ethics 1-1.1 on my blog because I agree with you that learning never ends. I think we are all showing that through our participation in this and future courses. You are so right that there are always changes in the field of education, especially early childhood, and staying informed is the key to a successful career.
